The Course

Blue Mound's 18 hole golf course is 6,672 yards from the black tees, 6,326 from the blue tees, and 5,638 from the white tees. Notable tournaments hosted include: the 1916 Western Open, won by Walter Hagen; the 1933 PGA Championship, won by Gene Sarazen; and the 1955 Miller Open, won by Dr. Cary Middlecoff. In the early 1900's, Seth J. Raynor, a pre-eminent golf course architect, created the layout. The club has preserved Raynor's design throughout the years, and has returned the course to its original splendor to enhance the playing experience.

Availability is one of the most valued aspects of the golf course. Blue Mound is known as a "member walk-on course." Tee times are seldom necessary and golfers generally do not experience a wait at the first tee. The club offers a unique "match-maker" service designed to help members arrange games and meet more of their peers. Caddies are readily available in the summer.

Play Schedule

The playing schedule provides a variety of golfing opportunities for members, their families and guests. Saturday morning and all day on Thursday are reserved for members. Members' spouses play at any other time, with Wednesday mornings dedicated to them.

The Practice Area

A practice range, which is centrally located, is one of the largest in the region for all types of shots and distances. The club also has a completely separate bunker and chipping green designed for short-game work, as well as a putting green. A lesson tee is also available for private lessons with our professional staff.

The Clubhouse

Built of lannon stone in 1926, our clubhouse has been preserved in its original state. The Cotswold-style structure remains an architectural masterpiece both inside and out. The formal dining room can accommodate 250 guests. Four private dining rooms are available for breakfast, lunch, or dinner meetings of eight to 40 people. Casual dining, a member grill and course-side outdoor dining provides members and their guests with a variety of entertainment options.

Social Activities

Social activities are varied and continue throughout the year at Blue Mound. The major social event of the season is a themed summer party. Other events include gourmet dinner parties, wine tastings and member-guest golf and dinner functions. The annual three-day Blue Mound Invitational is an excellent opportunity to host business or personal friends.

Service is a hallmark of the club. Blue Mound has a reputation for providing outstanding service by its long-tenured staff that provides personal attention. Several of our staff members have served our members for more than 25 years. In fact, the club has employed only three golf professionals in its 100+ year history.
